The 2026–27 FAFSA® Form Is Available Now

Dear Pamela,

The 2026–27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form is available now at fafsa.gov. If your child plans to attend college or career/trade school between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027, encourage them to fill out their FAFSA form right away to be eligible for as much aid as possible.

Remember: Your child must submit a FAFSA form every year they're in school to stay eligible for federal student aid.

We recommend that your child complete their sections of the FAFSA form first to save time and prevent errors. Once they're finished, your child will send you an invitation to their FAFSA form with instructions on how to access and submit it.

FAFSA® Resources for Parents

Check FAFSA deadlines. Your child's state, their school, and the federal government all have different FAFSA deadlines. Keep track of these deadlines and encourage your child to complete their FAFSA form as early as possible.

Use the Who's My FAFSA Parent? wizard. This interactive tool will help you understand if you and/or another parent will be required to provide information on your child's FAFSA form.
