Linnea,
We’re reaching out about your 2024–25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. According to our records, you didn't report information about your parents on the form because you indicated that you are a youth who is unaccompanied and experiencing homelessness, or a youth who is unaccompanied and is at risk of experiencing homelessness. We want to make sure you are able to access the financial aid you may qualify for.
If your school hasn’t already contacted you about determining your final eligibility for federal student aid, you should follow up with your college or career/trade school's financial aid office as soon as possible. Your financial aid administrator is required to make a determination of your status based on a written statement from you or a formal interview with you in order to complete their review of your FAFSA form. Make sure to submit a written statement or arrange for a formal interview as soon as possible so that your FAFSA form can be processed.

Take Action To Correct Your Application
If selecting that you are an unaccompanied homeless youth was a mistake, you should correct your FAFSA form. Follow these steps:
1. |
Log in to your StudentAid.gov account Dashboard.
|
2. |
Select “2024–25 FAFSA Form” from the “My Activity” section and then select “Start Your Correction.”
|
3. |
Navigate through the Personal Circumstances section and find the “Other Circumstances” question that asks if you, at any time on or after July 1, 2023, were unaccompanied and homeless or self-supporting and at risk of being homeless.
|
4. |
Change your answer to “No” so that you can invite your parent(s) to your FAFSA form.
