The 2024–25 FAFSA® Is Live!

The 2024–25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form is available at fafsa.gov as part of our soft launch. During the soft launch, the FAFSA form will be available while we monitor site performance and form functionality.

Students and families can visit StudentAid.gov/fillingout for resources about completing the 2024–25 FAFSA form—including information about creating a StudentAid.gov account without a Social Security number, how to complete the new 2024–25 FAFSA form, and what to do before and after completing the FAFSA form.

What To Know About the 2024–25 FAFSA® Launch

During the soft launch, we’ll monitor and respond in real time to any potential issues impacting the applicant experience. We will initiate pauses for site maintenance and to make updates as needed to create a better FAFSA experience for students and families.

During these pauses, users who are already online will be able to complete their work, but other users may not be able to begin or resume work on the 2024–25 FAFSA form. Users who go to fafsa.gov during a temporary pause should check back at a later time to complete the form.

Students and families will have ample time to complete the 2024–25 FAFSA form and do not need to rush to fill out the form immediately, as we will not transmit results to colleges or career/trade school until later in January 2024.

As you plan your FAFSA completion events, consider the possible impact of the soft launch and delays it might create in accessing the form. We recommend you schedule these events for later in January 2024 and February 2024 to account for the soft launch period, in the event there is site maintenance that could impact your events.
